APW - Illinois, Bunn Special Grade 163A, 23J 60 Hour Elinvar, Type IIB marking, 16S, white gold-filled OF Bunn Special Model 173 recase with superb engraving detail to rear, "Illinois Bunn Special 23 Jewel 60 Hour" marked Montgomery white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, mono-metallic balance with blued Elinvar hairspring, raised gold jewel settings, gold train, interrupted ray pattern nickel damascene, s#5456926. Total production of the Type IIB variant is estimated at 1800 made per Mike Chamelin's Bunn Special book. The very attractive engraving design of this example's case rear is identified as "Purse Pattern" per Michael Chamelin's authoritative "The 16 Size Illinois Bunn Special 1913-1948" book.

Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with scattered micro-fine scratches, few specks of oxide to regulator assembly; flawless dial; excellent-plus hands; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, excellent engraving detail, few minuscule specks of wear to brass to raised band shoulders and to pendant corners; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
